Drowned - Kindle - New cover.jpg

My first published novel is set on the beautiful coast of West Cork, Ireland, during the early 1980s. Drowned is a dark tale of love and loss, and draws on my Irish roots and the traditions and hospitality of the Irish. From visits to Ireland earlier in life, I recalled the smell of burning peat and the miles of untouched scenery and tried to give the story a strong sense of place. The village in Drowned is called Barley Cove, which does exist, but there’s no village there, just a golden sandy beach with cliffs and a nature reserve, a few chalets and a hotel. I liked the idea of such awful deeds taking place against a backdrop of natural beauty.

Rainbow's Picnic CT.jpg

The long winter finally appears to be over as the first sunlight of spring pours through Rainbow the Green Iguana's living-room window. She spots a beautiful golden daffodil given to her brother, Ralph, the year before as a tiny bulb. Rainbow lies to her brother, Ralph, and says that the daffodil is for them to eat. When Ralph finds out his sister has lied, Rainbow works hard to repay her brother and embarks on a string of seeming disasters. When Rainbow uncovers a secret plot by the local cats, will she have enough resources to save her friend from danger? Written for 6-8 year olds this is a story about telling the truth and regaining trust.
